Born and raised in West Virginia, Joanna learned how to mountain bike in Slatyfork, WV. In 2017 she moved to Sedona, Arizona to ride her mountain bike full time and pursue a career in the outdoors. Joanna is recognized nationally as one of the best coaches in the southwest and beyond. In 2021 Joanna started her own remote coaching business and continues to build programs to help clients progress on the bike no matter where they are in the world. Her riding style gravitates towards downhill/enduro and her coaching style is clear and to the point. Joanna will build your confidence on the bike through practice, patience and fun! She has been coaching mountain bike skills since 2015 and is a BICP Level 3 Advanced Skills Instructor and is also a BICP Instructor Trainer. Whether it is your first time on a mountain bike, or you are an advanced rider, Joanna is here to help you reach your riding potential. The below sessions are the area of focus but Joanna can also alter the lesson plan to focuses in on your areas of interest as needed.
These "foundation skills" are the most important to learn and are highly recommended for all skill levels. Learn correction body position, bike body separation, shifting, braking and so much more!
Wheels Off the Ground
In this session learn effective wheel lifts such as the basic front and rear wheel lift, 1/4 punch wheel lift, the manual front wheel lift and the bunny hop. Coach Joanna will give you direction and feedback in order to progress in a safe and effective way!
